This past week I received scans from my mentor which included the new antibody testing that they conducted. I was supposed to take part in the study, however, due to the virus I was not able to participate and observe. In the scans I received I was able to identify the different antibodies and the stages of them. I was also able to compare the method they used for the HCN4 antibodies to their original constant.
This week my plan is to review the images and talk with my mentor more about the process they used. Based on my observations I can tell that HCN4 antibody is a better match for the Kv1.1. Channel compared to their original antibody. The reason I drew this conclusion is that the staining on the edge of the cardiac cells is more prominent. However, before the staining was very very light and could barely be seen.
This week another one of my goals is to work and finish my final product overview. I feel as if this will not be too difficult because we already did one for the original work. The only difference is that this will be longer and more in depth so by getting ahead on it, I won’t feel overwhelmed.
