This past week I was able to work more on the final product. However, I ran into a problem. Since we have gone completely online and are not able to meet with our mentor’s face to face it has been difficult since mine involved a lot of lab work. I realized I would have to work with my assigned graduate student as well as my mentor to come up with another plan. We discussed how they were able to get data as well as imaging of the pacemaker cells before they had to close as well. So our new plan is for me to take the data and past trials and make something out of it. I also this week had a lot of fun doing the assignment which involved reading a storybook and recording ourselves.
This past week I also did research on pacemaker cells and why they function outside of the body and what makes them special. I also researched how to identify different cardiac cells in slides because for the experiment the lab is doing, they have to isolate only pacemaker cells and use them for the study. For this upcoming week, I hope to do some more work towards the final product as well as update my log so that I will have that completed by the deadline.
